You Need God Mode in Windows 11

If you hate digging into Windows 11 menus to find a tool or setting hidden in Control Panel or System Preferences, try turning on the hidden feature of the Main Control Panel, or as it is more commonly called, God Mode.

Windows typically hides many important settings deep in the Control Panel and Settings menus, forcing users to dig into their system only to change the date and time of their PC, defragment the hard drive, or create a system restore point.

However, enabling god mode in Windows 11 adds a main control panel shortcut to the desktop, filled with over 260 shortcuts and settings usually found in Control Panel and Settings menus. You can do everything from managing USB devices, uninstalling programs, changing your PC’s power settings, and more, right from your desktop.

Not only does God Mode in Windows 11 look like a cheat code that makes it easier to navigate your PC, you even use a secret code to turn it on, just like you did in an old video game. Here’s what to do:

  1. Right-click an empty area on the desktop.
  2. Choose New> Folder.
  3. Rename the new folder to GodMode. {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
  4. Open the renamed folder. Windows will automatically turn it into the main Control Panel folder.

Now god mode is on – you know what I mean when I talk about enabling it with a cheat code? These steps also work on Windows 10 (and Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 for that matter).

We must point out that God Mode does not make any major changes to your computer and does not require an expert level of understanding to use. However, you should only use the tools in the folder when you need them, and not mess with any additional settings unless you know what they do.

The various features and settings of God Mode will vary depending on the operating system, but everything you would otherwise find in the Windows Control Panel is included. You can even drag and drop any of the items in the main control panel list onto the desktop to create a shortcut for even quicker access, and there is a search bar you can use to quickly find any of the functions.

If you decide that you no longer need God Mode, simply delete the folder from your desktop.
