Get Priority Pass Restaurant Credits With These Credit Cards

If you have an American Express travel credit card that includes a Priority Pass membership, please be aware that Amex has simply taken away the opportunity to save money on your airport lunch.

Priority Pass gives travelers access to over 1200 airport lounges around the world. While you can purchase your own Priority Pass membership, it is sometimes included as a credit card privilege, especially if you have one of these premium travel credit cards.

As more people gained access to Priority Pass, lounges began to fill up and, as an alternative, the program began offering discounts on meals at select restaurants . Business Insider explains :

To combat overcrowding and offer members benefits, Priority Pass has partnered with “non-lounge services” at airports such as restaurants to offer cardholders a $ 25-30 credit to their account. This was largely successful; Although lounges can remain crowded , people are more likely to head to restaurants before flying out.

All of these restaurant loans cost money to the credit card companies, which is why Amex decided to give up access to restaurants. Business Insider received a statement from Amex noting that its Priority Pass benefits were designed to offer “a premium lounge space to relax and unwind while traveling the world,” and that “free access to airport entertainment except for waiting rooms ”will be canceled from 1 August.

If you have an American Express Platinum or Centurion card, Amex Hilton or Marriott card with Priority Pass access, get in the habit of visiting only airport lounges – or, as The Points Guy reminds us, you can always switch to Citi, Chase, or US Bank , each still offering Priority Pass Restaurant Credit as part of their premium travel premium credit card reward structure.

The following credit cards currently offer Priority Pass restaurant access as a travel privilege:

  • Chase Sapphire Sanctuary
  • Citi Prestige Card
  • Visa Infinite Bank Altitude Reserve Card

Just make sure you haven’t used too many credit cards in the past year , or your application may be rejected.
