How to Clean a Sofa
Even though couches are one of the most expensive pieces of furniture in our homes, we often neglect them in our regular cleaning procedures, and many of us don’t know how to actually care for them. In this video, we’ll break down everything you need to know, no matter what kind of sofa you have.
First, pay attention to the cleaning agent label. It will contain one of the following letters:
- W: clean with water
- R: Clean with special solvent.
- WS: use water or thinner.
- X: Do not use liquid, only use dry method
For the water-based method, mix 2 cups of distilled water, 1 tablespoon each of dish soap and white vinegar. Soak a microfiber cloth in the solution and blot the stain. Then, dip a clean cloth in fresh distilled water and treat with water again. Finally, blot with a dry cloth.
To use solvent, purchase the product indicated on the label and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
For the dry method, use a stiff bristled brush to remove any dirt, then sprinkle baking soda on the sofa. Let it brew for 15-20 minutes and vacuum.
If you have an ink stain, just blot it with rubbing alcohol. If there is crayon on the sofa, spray with WD40, wipe off and let dry.
Now you can sit down, relax and enjoy a clean sofa.
