How to Pre-Order Microsoft Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 3, and Surface Pro X
Microsoft will launch a number of new Surface products over the next few weeks: Surface Pro X, Surface Pro 7, and the new Surface Laptop 3. Each device comes in several models with different specs, prices and release dates, but all of them can be pre-ordered now.
Below you’ll find a breakdown of each device, as well as links to where to pre-order, although if you like any of the new Surface devices and want one soon, you’ll probably want to upgrade to pre-order. as soon as you can. Microsoft has limited supplies and expects them to sell out quickly.
Surface Pro 7
Release date: October 7
First, we have the new Surface Pro 7. Each Surface Pro 7 uses a 10th Gen Intel Core processor, but the specific processor depends on the configuration you choose. The amount of RAM and internal memory is also configurable, and alternative color options are available for some models.

The Surface Pro 7 can be pre-ordered from the Microsoft Store , although some colors appear to be already on sale. Early adopters should quickly grasp this.
Surface Laptop 3
Release date: October 22
The Surface Laptop 3 comes in two sizes, one with a 13.5-inch screen and the other with a 15-inch screen, but there are some pretty big differences between the two beyond the 1.5-inch display.
The 13.5-inch model starts at $ 999 and features an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Several other more powerful options are available, however, which top out at $ 2,399 for the Intel Core i7 model with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Conversely, 15-inch models are replacing Intel processors with AMD’s new Ryzen lineup . The cheapest 15-inch configuration includes an AMD Ryzen 5 3580U processor, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for $ 1,199, while the top-end configuration includes an AMD Ryzen 7 3780U, 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

Surface Pro X
Release date: November 5
Rounding out the triumvirate is the Surface Pro X. There are two base models, one with 8GB of storage and the other with 16GB, and each can be upgraded with more internal storage. Both models are equipped with 13-inch touch screens, built-in LTE mobile data modules and are powered by the unique SQ1 processors developed by Microsoft and Qualcomm.
Here are the prices and storage options available for both Surface Pro X models:
- 8GB RAM: $ 999 for 128GB of storage, or $ 1299 for 256GB.
- 16GB RAM: $ 1,499 for 256GB of internal storage, or $ 1,799 for 512GB.
Those looking for an extra keyboard cover ($ 140) and / or Surface Slim Pen ($ 145) will have to buy them separately from the Surface Pro X, but you can pair the two for a slight $ 267 discount.
