Microwave Fresh Corn on the Cob

Summer may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t eat corn on the cob. In fact, it’s a great way to add a little summer flair to your next meal and make it look more like a picnic. You can even enjoy fresh corn on the cob at work by covering the corn with wet paper towels and microwave cooking.

Culinary webzine Chowhound explains that corn can be cooked easily in the microwave by first removing the husk and silk from the corn, wrapping the cob in a damp paper towel, and placing it in the microwave for no more than five minutes. Take it out of the microwave, let your ear cool down and take it out.

The other method takes a little longer, but might even be easier. This is courtesy of a man named Ken from the YouTube video:

In it, Ken recommends removing two ears of corn completely into the microwave and cooking them for eight minutes. Pull them out (using oven mitts or some kind of thermal protector), cut off the bottom of the husk, then grab the top of the silk and let the ear slip out easily. According to Simply Recipes , this method produces even tastier corn because it allows the cob to steam in its own juice and absorb the flavor of the husk, “resulting in a wonderful, undiluted corn flavor.” Add oil, salt or whatever you like and enjoy!
