How to Decorate a Room With New Year’s Greenery Without a Whole Tree

And for those celebrating and decorating Christmas, it’s time to decide whether to chop down a real living tree outside the home and bring it home for a few weeks, or dust the fake tree in the basement and light pine-scented candles. …
Either way, Christmas trees can be a serious problem – and that doesn’t even go into the tangled garlands of lights. But here’s the thing: There is no rule that you have to have a Christmas tree. If you have children old enough to understand the whole Santa fireplace-represents-tree situation, and / or young enough to take care of them, the tree may not be negotiable.
But for everyone else, there are many ways to decorate this Christmas with festive greenery that isn’t tree-related. In an article for BobVila.com, Savannah Sher provides several examples. Here are some to consider this year.
Wreaths
Like trees, wreaths come in both real and artificial and are widely available and can be made on your own. Cher says that if you choose a fresh wreath, it will eventually dry out when dangled – which is not a bad thing. The wreath will still look great and last all season.
Garland
Another festive classic and especially versatile decoration, the garland can be placed in any room in your home – framing doors and windows, wrapping railings, throwing on a robes, or using as a table runner. Although there are plenty of artificial garlands in stores, making a fresh garland yourself is relatively easy . Branches of pine, cedar, holly and spruce are especially suitable.
Central part of the table
Think of it as a small wreath that you lay flat on the table , and there is usually some kind of candle, light, fruit, or candied fruit in the center. (If you choose a candle, can we suggest an artificial LED candle instead of something with a flame near dry branches?)
