How to Hide Memojis in IOS 13 and IPadOS 13

Memojis have been added to iPad and iPhone keyboards in iPad and iOS 13, which is great news if you’re a fan of weirdly creepy, personalized doppelgangers. If you are not one of these people, then this inclusion may annoy you a little – they take up a surprisingly large amount of space on the emoji keyboard.
Fortunately, there are two (or three, depending on whether you have upgraded to iOS 13.3) to hide Memojis from the emoji keyboard, and each method applies to all your apps.
Hide Memoji Stickers from iOS Keyboard
The first method is very simple, but it doesn’t disable Memojis completely . Instead, it hides them when you open the emoji menu.
- In any application that allows typing, open the keyboard
- Tap the emoji icon to open the emoji keyboard.
- Swipe left until the Memoji columns disappear, then close the keyboard by tapping the Emoji icon again. Your device will save your changes and hide the Memojis the next time you open the Emoji keyboard.
This is the easiest way to hide your Memojis, and is good for those who don’t want them to clutter up the keyboard but still want them to be a little accessible. If you ever decide you want to access Memojis again, just open the emoji keyboard and swipe right to open them again.
Disable Memoji Stickers completely
For those who just want these supernatural characters to disappear forever, you can turn them off completely in your iOS settings. A similar method existed in earlier versions of iOS 13 (which is detailed below for those who haven’t updated yet), but it’s much simpler than the beta version of iOS 13.3 .
On an iOS 13.3 device, go to Settings> General> Keyboard, scroll down and tap the slider next to Memoji Keyboard to disable Memojis in all apps. This is much easier compared to disabling Memojis in earlier versions of iOS and iPadOS 13.
However, iOS or iPadOS 13 devices that haven’t updated to 13.3 or higher may still disable Memojis in all apps, it’s just a little tricky. Here’s how:
- Open the Messages app, then open one of your conversations (it doesn’t matter which one – you just need to do it for the correct options).
- Swipe right on the app bar at the bottom of Messages, and then tap the “…” icon.
- Click Change to open a list of additional applications.
- Scroll down and disable Memoji Stickers in the app list.
- Close the menu. The next time you open your keyboard, your emoji list should now look the same as it did in the pre-Memoji era on iOS.
