Apple Has Finally Fixed the Problem With Your IPhone’s Broken Keyboard.

Apple’s next major update, iOS 26.4 , is just around the corner. While it won’t include the long-awaited AI-powered Siri update , you’ll find new emoji , AI-powered playlists in Apple Music , and end-to-end encryption support for RCS . But perhaps most exciting for some iOS users is one key new feature: Apple is finally fixing the iPhone keyboard bugs.
iOS 26.4 fixes this iPhone keyboard bug.
In the release notes for iOS 26.4, Apple lists many new features we’ve already seen in previous betas. But at the very bottom of Apple’s list of “improvements,” there’s this: “Improved keyboard accuracy when typing quickly.” That sounds… rather unimpressive, at least on its own. But this marks the first time since iOS 26 that Apple has directly addressed a widespread issue with the iPhone keyboard.
Users have been complaining online about inaccurate typing since the update was released in September . This negative feedback has persisted after subsequent Apple updates and, in fact, may only get worse. When Apple released iOS 26.3, one Reddit user wrote in r/iPhone : “The iOS 26.3 keyboard is completely unusable—is anyone else experiencing this?” Another commenter agreed, writing, “Literally as of today, it’s become completely unusable for me. It’s been bad for about [two or three] months, and now it’s [really] unusable.” In a similar vein, news of the keyboard update is currently receiving a lot of attention on r/Apple. The top comment on that post reads , “I’ll believe it when I see it.” (The typos are likely intended as a joke, but they’re not uncommon for those who type too quickly on a glitchy iPhone keyboard.)
Whether this fix satisfies Reddit users or not, it’s unlikely to be the panacea all iOS users are looking for. This patch likely only addresses a specific bug that causes characters to be skipped when typing too quickly, even though the key animates when pressed. Hopefully, this issue is fully resolved, but the iPhone keyboard has been controversial even before the announcement of iOS 26.
Of course, all of this remains to be seen until iOS 26.4 is released. Apple hasn’t announced a release date yet, but now that the Release Candidate is out, the update could arrive soon. In the meantime , you can take some steps to improve keyboard performance, but if the issues are software-related, only Apple can fix them.
