The Colorsoft Signature Edition is similar in design to the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition . It measures approximately 7 x 5 x 0.3 inches and weighs 7.7 ounces, so it retains the familiar lightweight feel of a Kindle. The main difference is the seven-inch Kaleido 3 color display. Black and white text is displayed at 300 pixels per inch, while color content is displayed at 150 pixels per inch.

The color scheme is what sets this Kindle apart from others . Comics, graphic novels, magazines, and illustrated books look noticeably better than on a standard monochrome Kindle. The colors are closer to newspaper text than a bright tablet screen, but they also make panels and illustrations easier to read. “There’s also an automatic zoom feature for individual panels, making dialogue and illustrations easier to read without constantly adjusting the page,” notes Michelle Erhardt in her review of the device.

What do you think at the moment?

With the exception of the color screen, the rest of the hardware meets expectations for Amazon’s more expensive Kindle models. The automatically adjustable backlight adjusts brightness based on room lighting, IPX8 water resistance makes reading safe in wet conditions, and wireless charging is supported alongside USB-C. However, there are a few tradeoffs to consider. The color display can create slightly uneven lighting in some situations, and battery life is shorter than the Paperwhite. Amazon estimates a charge lasts up to eight weeks, compared to approximately 12 weeks for the Paperwhite. Furthermore, there are no physical page-turning buttons (typical for Kindles ), so navigation is entirely via the touchscreen.
