What will Samsung announce at Galaxy Unpacked 2026?
Typically, when it comes to what a company like Samsung will unveil at a major hardware event, we’re left with nothing but rumors and speculation. In this case, we still have to do that, but the company has nonetheless explicitly told us what its major announcement will be. When Samsung first announced Unpacked 2026 a couple of weeks ago , it stated that “a new Galaxy S series is coming soon,” which undoubtedly refers to the Galaxy S26. Samsung claims this new series is “designed to simplify everyday interactions, inspire confidence, and deliver seamless integration of Galaxy AI from the moment you hold it.” Whatever that means.
Unboxing 2026: Galaxy S26 Series
To get an idea of what to expect on Wednesday, we can look at the rumors surrounding the S26 series . As usual, Samsung will likely release three main S26 models: the S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra. It’s unclear whether the company will release the S26 Edge this year, following the S25 Edge .
The standard S26 looks to be a slight improvement over the current S25, albeit with one key change: the new Galaxy will house three rear cameras on a prominent block, following the example of Apple and Google. Rumors differ as to whether the cameras themselves will be improved, with some suggesting the Ultra version will increase the resolution from 12 MP to 50 MP. The S26 could feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED display, a 4,300 mAh battery, up to 12 GB of RAM, and possibly up to 512 GB of storage. Samsung will likely use a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The S26 Plus is likely to be a similar phone, only with a larger 6.7-inch display.
The S26 Ultra appears to feature four rear cameras, three of which will be located in the protruding bezel. As usual, the Ultra is the largest model in the lineup, presumably with a 6.9-inch display. It may even be slightly thinner than the current S25 Ultra. The cameras may also receive some improvements, though the specifications are likely to remain the same as the S25 Ultra. For example, while both models may feature 200-megapixel primary sensors, the S26’s sensor may see some improvements. It may also come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, along with up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, a 5,000mAh battery, and 60W fast wired charging.
The entire S25 series will likely support 25W fast wireless charging, and 25W Qi2 chargers supporting this technology may also be available. All of them may also support satellite communications, allowing users to call and message emergency services and contacts without cellular service —similar to Apple’s Emergency SOS feature on the iPhone .
In 2026: Galaxy Buds 4
Samsung is likely to unveil new earbuds alongside the S26 series on Wednesday: the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro . If rumors are true, the Buds 4 will come in black, while the Buds 4 Pro will come in white, though both models will ship with a charging case with a transparent lid. Besides color, another key difference is the fit: the Buds 4 Pro are rumored to come with silicone ear tips, like the AirPods Pro, while the Buds 4 will not, like Apple’s standard AirPods.
2026 Preview: Artificial Intelligence
Finally, expect some important AI-related announcements, particularly for the S26 series. In a press release published Sunday , Samsung announced it was “expanding Galaxy AI capabilities” to support “select integrated agents.” Specifically, Samsung is partnering with Perplexity to embed their AI agents into Galaxy devices. You’ll be able to say “Hey Plex” to access the agent, and the bot will work across all Samsung apps, such as Calendar, Clock, Gallery, Notes, and Reminders.
At the same time, the company is testing the latest version of its own voice assistant, Bixby, with One UI 8.5. The goal is to allow users to ask Bixby questions on their Galaxy devices, such as, “I don’t want the screen to turn off when I look at it,” and the bot will adjust settings accordingly. The new Bixby can also access the internet to answer questions, similar to other AI bots like ChatGPT or Gemini. Expect to hear more about this during Unpacked.
