YouTube Has Finally Released an App for Apple Vision Pro.

YouTube is finally available on the Apple Vision Pro. YouTube for Vision OS is a free, standalone app that allows users to sign in to their existing YouTube accounts on Vision headsets and stream videos as expected, including standard videos, 180° videos, 360° videos, and YouTube Shorts. Vision Pro M5 users can stream videos in 8K resolution, and YouTube premium subscribers can download videos directly to their headsets, which is essential on long flights.

Google, which owns YouTube, has apparently been working on this app for some time. In 2024, a company representative confirmed that a standalone Vision Pro app was “in our plans,” but until now, the only way for Vision users to watch YouTube on their headsets was through the Safari web browser.

The new YouTube app is designed with Vision spatial computing in mind. “Rather than simply adapting to different screen sizes, we needed something that would adapt to different spaces, volumes, and use cases,” YouTube Senior UX Designer Brendan Polley told Apple . “We created an entirely new design system that isolated core elements—comments, the play button, the like and dislike buttons—to adapt to any layout.”
