The ROG Strix XG27UCS is a 27-inch gaming monitor released in March 2024. To keep its price down (compared to other gaming monitors), ASUS ditched the RGB technology and USB hub typically found on more expensive gaming monitors. However, it still features the expected 160Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and 4K resolution.

Since this monitor uses an IPS panel, you won’t get the true blacks that OLED screens offer. This monitor’s contrast ratio is around 922:1, according to IGN’s review , so blacks can appear more like a dark gray. You can calibrate the settings for specific games or genres—and a nice feature is the ability to save profiles with custom settings, so you can easily switch between them when switching between games.

The stand’s height, tilt, swivel, and rotation are adjustable. You can also switch from landscape to portrait, which is convenient for those who want to use it for work. Another feature that makes it convenient for work is the USB-C port with DisplayPort support, meaning you only need this cable to connect your laptop to video, audio, and charging (most modern laptops have this feature). There’s also a tray on the stand for a small device, perfect for placing a phone, and a jack for wired headphones or external speakers.
