Apple Has Released IOS 26.3 With New Features.

It’s officially time for another iPhone update: on Wednesday, Apple released iOS 26.3 for compatible iPhones after nearly two months of beta testing. Unlike iOS 26 itself, or even iOS 26.1 and iOS 26.2 , iOS 26.3 isn’t feature-rich. But there are a few interesting (and important) changes worth noting, including an easier way to ditch your iPhone entirely.

iOS 26.3 makes it easier to transfer data from iPhone to Android.

In December , we learned about a small but important new iOS feature : an official way to make transferring data between an iPhone and an Android device more convenient. In the iOS settings, under “Move or reset iPhone,” a new option called “Move to Android” appeared. Tap it, and iOS will prompt you to bring your iPhone near your Android device; you can then choose which data to transfer, such as photos, messages, notes, and apps. However, it appears not all data will transfer: health data, Bluetooth-paired devices, and “secure items” like locked notes will not be transferred using this transfer feature.

Apple worked directly with Google on this feature, meaning it’s not just a one-way street: Android users will have a similar option to transfer the update to their iPhone. But those who update their iPhone to iOS 26.3 now have an easier way to downgrade to another platform if they so choose .

In iOS 26.3 (if you have Boost Mobile), you can limit the sharing of precise location data.

In iOS 26.3, Apple is giving some users the option to stop sharing their precise location with their cellular carriers. The new ” Limit Precise Location ” feature reduces the accuracy of location data shared with cellular networks. This means the network can determine your approximate location, but not your exact location. In practice, this means, at least according to Apple, that the network may know your location, but not your exact address.

Currently, this feature is only available to Boost Mobile users in the US with iOS 26.3. It also only works with certain iOS devices, including the iPhone Air, iPhone 16e, and iPad Pro M5 Wi-Fi + Cellular. Hopefully, this feature will come to other plans and more iPhone models in the future, but for now, it’s a fairly limited feature. While most of us won’t be able to restrict the sharing of precise network location data, we can at least prevent apps from collecting this data .

In iOS 26.3, the Weather and Astronomy sections received their own wallpaper sections.

A small update: In iOS 26.3, Apple has separated the Weather and Astronomy sections into separate wallpaper sections. (Previously, these two categories were combined.) The Astronomy section features the standard space-themed wallpapers found in iOS 26.2 and earlier, while the Weather section now features three preset wallpapers with different fonts and weather widgets.

Forwarding notifications to the EU

Back in September, it was revealed that Apple was quietly working on a notification forwarding feature, but beyond this basic functionality, details remained a matter of speculation. At the time, most assumed Apple planned to use this feature to forward notifications to third-party devices, particularly smartwatches, in order to open up the platform to wearables other than the Apple Watch. Of course, this wouldn’t have been Apple’s choice—if the company had acted independently, it would have tried to keep as many features as possible exclusive to Apple devices. Instead, the motivation was EU requirements, which obligated Apple to make its platforms more compatible with third-party devices.

What do you think at the moment?

As it turns out, this feature is now available in iOS 26.3—albeit only in the EU (in the first beta of iOS 26.3, Apple added a “Forward Notifications” option to the Notifications settings for all iPhones. This option was later removed because the feature was only available in the EU). While the option isn’t yet available, Apple has provided a description of how the feature works, stating that notifications can only be forwarded to one device at a time. Importantly, the description states that forwarding notifications to another device won’t show them on your Apple Watch. Is such a restriction really necessary, Apple?

iPhone users in the EU will also receive another exciting feature in iOS 26.3 . The new update will allow users to pair third-party accessories with their iPhones by bringing the devices close together, similar to how AirPods pair with an iPhone. Developers will need to add this functionality to their devices before it will work, but the new update makes it possible.

Bug fixes and security updates installed.

Apple typically releases feature updates like iOS 26.3 with stability patches, including fixes for bugs and security vulnerabilities. This update is no exception.Apple’s security notes for iOS 26.3 list 37 patches to address security vulnerabilities, covering issues across iOS. The most important of these, by far, fixes an issue with dyld, Apple’s “dynamic link editor,” which the company says could have been used in a “sophisticated attack against specific target individuals.” The company has used similar language before , typically referring to attacks on high-ranking users from government agencies or large organizations. Therefore, most users likely won’t be affected by this bug, but it’s better to be safe: update your system as soon as possible.

Other important security updates include a fix for a bug in the Photos app that could allow an attacker to access your photos from the lock screen; a fix for a screenshot issue that could allow an attacker to see your deleted notes; a fix for a UIKit bug that could allow an attacker to take screenshots of sensitive data when using iPhone mirroring on a Mac; and a fix for a VoiceOver bug that could allow an attacker to view sensitive information even when your iPhone is locked.
