These Sony Over-Ear Headphones Come in Three Colors and Are Now Under $100.

Not everyone needs, wants, or can afford the “best” headphones, especially when they can easily cost $500. If the Sony XM6 , which I named the best over-ear headphones of 2025 (and 2026 so far), are out of your price range, the more affordable Sony WH-CH720N might be a better fit. While they’re not as premium, they’re significantly cheaper and offer good enough quality for most people. They’re currently available on Amazon for $97 (original price: $179.99).
These are Sony’s entry-level headphones, and the company has made major compromises in design and build quality. They may feel hollow and light to the touch, but they are comfortable thanks to the well-cushioned earcups, as CNET notes . However, Sony hasn’t made major sacrifices in sound quality or active noise cancellation, which is ultimately what matters most.
While their price has previously dropped below $100, all three color variations haven’t been available at the current price point until now. These headphones use the same Sony Sound Connect app as the flagship models and share some features, such as multipoint connectivity for pairing up to two devices. They also support Google Fast Pair and Find My Device—nice features for convenience, especially if you lose your headphones. Battery life is 35 hours with active noise cancellation enabled and 50 hours with it disabled, and charging is quick: three minutes provides three hours of playback.
The active noise cancellation (ANC) isn’t as good as the latest XM6s, but according to a Mashable review , it does a great job considering the sub-$100 price point, blocking out most ambient noise both outdoors and indoors. The transparency mode is also excellent, allowing you to talk and hear passing bikes or cars. An adjustable equalizer in the app lets you customize the WH-CH720N’s clear and rich sound to your liking.
