The Q990F is an updated version of the Q990D, released by Samsung in 2023 (originally released in 2025). It’s not significantly different, save for a few tweaks that most critics considered the model’s main drawbacks. The Q990F adds HDMI 2.1 with support for 4K passthrough at 120Hz and VRR, making it ideal for serious gamers who require minimal input lag. Samsung has also added wireless Dolby Atmos support for compatible Samsung TVs, enabling playback of uncompressed Atmos audio without connecting an HDMI cable to eARC, with the signal transmitted over Wi-Fi. The subwoofer has also been improved, delivering a more solid and controlled sound. And, of course, the overall setup and audio technologies have also been improved.
