Spotify Raises Prices Again

If you subscribe to Spotify, start checking your email. The music streaming service is sending out emails to its customers warning them of another price increase expected next month.

To Spotify’s credit, the price increase is quite modest. But starting with the February billing date, the price of individual premium plans will increase from $11.99 per month to $12.99 per month, and student plans will increase from $5.99 per month to $6.99 per month.

More advanced plans will increase in price slightly. The Duo plan, which provides premium access to two people living at the same address, will increase in price from $16.99 per month to $18.99 per month. The Family plan, which provides premium access to up to six people living at the same address, will also increase by $2, and will now cost $21.99 per month instead of $19.99 per month.

Honestly, a difference of $1-2 seems pretty insignificant, but this update follows another price increase in the US in 2024 , when individual plans went up by $1, Duo plans by $2, and Family plans by $3. And this comes after a price increase in 2023 , when individual, student, and family plans went up by $1 and Duo plans by $2. Some subscribers outside the US also faced price increases in 2025. I feel like a frog in a slowly boiling pot.

What do you think at the moment?

The continuous price increases are somewhat disappointing for subscribers who have become accustomed to a stable price on Spotify since its US launch in 2011, as the service remained that way for 12 years before the first price change.

If all these price increases are starting to annoy you, you might be able to find a way around them. If you find a store near you, you can pay for an annual subscription at a discount using a Spotify gift card , although this doesn’t apply to Spotify family and student plans. Unfortunately, Spotify doesn’t offer annual subscriptions on its website.
