X Is Currently Unavailable

It’s not just you: Site X is down and won’t load. I discovered this problem myself just after 9:30 AM ET. I was scrolling through my feed when suddenly new posts stopped loading, and a page refresh prompt appeared. After refreshing, the site reloaded, but now there are no posts—only a useless reload option.
The website Downdetector (which, incidentally, is owned by Lifehacker’s parent company, Ziff Davis) has seen a sharp spike in user complaints . At the time of writing, approximately 25,000 users have reported issues with X, including I.
There are a number of potential reasons why X isn’t loading this morning, but it doesn’t appear to be related to a larger cloud hosting issue. Whenever a large website like X goes down, it resembles global outages caused by issues with cloud hosting services like AWS and Cloudflare . However, a quick check on Downdetector shows that only a few other sites and services are currently reporting widespread outages. This may change, but at the time of writing, it appears X’s issues are limited to the site itself.
No doubt X will restore everything soon. In the meantime, perhaps it would be best for us all to leave this site for a while.
