My Favorite Amazon Buy of the Day: the 2024 Amazon Kindle Scribe.

Even though the Kindle Scribe was updated in December 2025 , the 2024 model remains a compelling digital notepad. The 2024 Kindle Scribe is an improved version of Amazon’s larger note-taking e-reader, offering a number of welcome improvements over the original 2022 model. However, these improvements don’t come cheap: prices for the 2024 Kindle Scribe start at $399.99 (still significantly less than the new 2025 version, which starts at $499.99).
The 64GB 2024 version of Scribe is significantly cheaper right now: it’s on sale for $309.99 (the original price was $419.99), which, according to price tracking tools , is the lowest price I’ve seen since its release, and a great opportunity to pick it up at a great price.
The original Kindle Scribe was released in 2022; a used 64GB model with a Premium Pen is currently listed for $349.99 , making it a great value proposition—you can get a model released three years later for less.
However, if you already own the 2022 version , there’s no compelling reason to upgrade—the main difference is that the 2024 version comes with a Premium Pen stylus instead of the Basic Pen, and the tablet itself is shorter, narrower, and thinner, but not by much (you can even use the same case). The new screen also has a textured finish that adds some resistance when writing, providing a more natural feel. The gap between the screen and the outer casing is also smaller. But that’s where the differences end.
Otherwise, you’ll get the same book compatibility, the same 480-gram weight, the same antiglare display with a 300-ppi backlight, and the same 12-week battery life. Both tablets run the same software. However, if you don’t have Scribe at all and are considering it, the 2024 version is a good choice at the current price: it’s 44% cheaper than the new 2025 model.
