CES 2026: This Asus Gaming Desktop Can Project Custom-Made Holograms.

With the rise of streaming culture, many gamers have begun investing in computers that not only run games well but also look great. Asus’s latest gaming desktop, the ROG G1000, is fairly typical of high-performance systems, but it has one key aesthetic advantage: holograms.

This computer’s front panel and one side panel, securely hidden behind inaccessible glass windows, feature rapidly rotating LED strips that, when in motion, create compelling, full-color images that create a sense of depth. The frame rate may be a bit slow, but this is a well-known technology that’s now ubiquitous at every CES, and you can even buy regular standalone hologram fans on Amazon for around $60-$100 . It’s just rare to see it integrated into devices like PCs.

This hologram technology, called AniMe Holo, should be a great way to show off on camera (or to your friends at the dorm), and Asus promises quite extensive customization options. Sure, you can upload still images and GIFs, but Asus also told reporters that the device supports full videos or MP4 files with no length limits. I think I’d try using it to watch Shrek .

The effect looks slightly better in person, but on video it’s unusual enough to be appealing, even if it does lose some depth of field. Unfortunately, photographs aren’t very suitable for demonstrating this device, as they can’t convey the rotational motion.

What do you think at the moment?

Beyond aesthetics, the G1000 also tops the performance charts, equipped with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X 3D processor, an RTX 5090 graphics card, up to 128 GB of RAM, and 2 TB of storage. It’s powerful enough to seamlessly run the latest games at maximum settings.

Of course, such features will likely cost you a pretty penny, especially considering the addition of the holographic feature. Asus hasn’t yet released pricing information, but the ROG G1000 is expected to go on sale in the second quarter of this year.
