The deal includes the new console and the new Mario Kart game for the same price as the standalone console. You can get it for $449 (down from $499)—the lowest price ever recorded, according to price tracking tools . (Note that the price can only be seen after logging in and adding the item to your cart, as Nintendo prohibits retailers from advertising items below the “minimum advertised price” of $499.) On top of all that, Best Buy is somehow promising to deliver it to your door by 9 PM today, December 24th—a true Christmas miracle. You can also pick it up within an hour if time is of the essence.
This is a great deal, and judging by previous Nintendo promotions, it’s likely the best one in a long time. For comparison, the OLED version of the original Nintendo Switch currently costs $400, meaning you can get the new Switch 2 with Mario Kart for just $50 more. The new console is also an improvement across the board, as Deputy Technology Editor Michelle Erhardt notes in her Nintendo Switch 2 review. The ergonomics and design have been improved, making the console much more comfortable to hold and looking better. Battery life has also improved, now offering around 180 minutes of playtime in handheld mode before the battery runs out.
A big plus is the Switch 2’s backward compatibility, meaning you can play your old Switch games on it. Some Switch games can be upgraded to the Switch 2 version by purchasing the appropriate upgrade pack. This is especially beneficial for games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , which will look better on the Switch 2.
