YouTube Presented a New Annual Report

Following in the footsteps of YouTube Music and YouTube Gaming , YouTube is finally introducing a Spotify -style annual review. Called simply YouTube Recap , the feature will reveal your viewing habits across all categories in 2025.

According to YouTube, YouTube Recap will display “a set of 12 different cards” focusing on “your favorite channels, interests, and even the dynamics of your viewing habits.” The service will collect data from both long-form and short-form videos, as well as uploaded videos, but will only track videos you’ve watched while logged in to your account.

The company also categorizes its viewers into “personality types” based on what they watch, such as “Trailblazer” or “Skill Builder.” A detailed description of these types can be found on the support page . For example, if you’re a “Sunshine,” it means “you’re drawn to content that promotes positivity and positivity.” Google reports that the most common personality types this year were “Sunshine,” “Wonder Seeker,” and “Connector,” while personality types like “Philosopher” and “Dreamer” were less common. So, I guess you can brag about it if you have one of these.

If you listen to a lot of music on YouTube, YouTube Recap will also pull data from YouTube Music and show you the top artists and songs of the year. For more detailed information, open the YouTube Music app and view your YouTube Music overview.

YouTube Recap should be available in North America today, though it may take a while before you see it—I don’t have access to mine yet. For viewers worldwide, YouTube promises that it will “be available to the rest of the world this week.” You’ll be able to watch it in 17 languages; the full list is available here .

I’ll be checking my episode throughout the day, but for now, here’s how to find your YouTube Recap episode when it’s published.

How to view your YouTube review

According to YouTube’s instructions, YouTube Recap is available on both desktop and mobile apps and will appear as a banner on either your homepage or the You tab.

On a mobile device, you can open the “You” tab by clicking the button in the lower right corner with your profile picture. On a computer, click the “You” subheading in the panel on the left side of the screen. Or, you can simply go to youtube.com/recap and let your browser do it for you (on a mobile device, the browser will redirect you to the appropriate section of the app).

What do you think at the moment?

Please note that you will need to be logged in for all these features to work. If the issue persists, you may also need to update the YouTube app. Google states that Recap requires version 18.43 or later.

After viewing your review, you can also share it by clicking the “Share” button on any of the review cards. You can also save it by clicking the download button to the left of the “Share” button.

Along with YouTube Recap, YouTube also released a more general overview of popular topics, creators, and songs in 2025. The most popular topic in 2025 appears to be Squid Game , and the most popular creator appears to be MrBeast (I have a feeling these two factors may be related).

The Joe Rogan Experience tops the podcast list, and interestingly, there are separate trends for short-form and long-form videos: Forrest Frank’s “YOUR WAY’S BETTER” tops the short-form list, while Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga’s “Die With a Smile ” leads the long-form list. The only topic where the short-form and long-form video lists overlap is “Soda Pop.”
