I test a lot of wearables for Lifehacker, and of all the modern fitness watches and smartwatches out there, I generally find the entry-level models to be the most useful option for the average runner or casual person who just wants to track some exercise.

There are plenty of great watches for under $250, and thanks to this week’s Black Friday sales, some are even cheaper. Here are the best deals on great fitness and running watches you can find right now in this price range.

The Best Black Friday Deals on Garmin Forrunners

I think the Forerunner 255 is arguably the best budget Garmin on the market, but it’s a bit of an outdated model at this point. It still does its job admirably, but prices can be unpredictable, and many of the deals you’ll find are refurbished units. There’s nothing wrong with that—just make sure you understand what you’re buying. There are two sizes: 41mm and 46mm, and each comes with or without music storage. Note that the 255 has a MIP screen, an older technology with its pros and cons .
