My 1,000-Mile Running Shoes Are Under $50 on Black Friday.

It’s recommended to replace running shoes every 300-500 miles (480-800 km), but I’ve found that some models last much longer. Now, the shoes that served me so well—the Nike Downshifters—are on sale for $50 or less, depending on the color.
Why I love these shoes
You can read the full story of my 1,000-mile shoe journey here . In short, I wore a pair of Nike Downshifter 12s on almost every run for a year, logging 1,024 miles in them as of this writing. (I’ve worn them a few more times since then.) Considering they were originally a budget shoe, their price was incredible—6.5 cents per mile, by my calculations.
The current model is the Downshifter 13, which I also own, though I’ve only put a few dozen miles on it yet. But it seems to be a very similar shoe, and I wouldn’t be surprised if their sales also reach four figures. The Downshifter 13 is currently on sale.
How to Get the Best Price on Nike Downshifters
Both men’s and women’s versions of the Downshifter 13 are sold on Nike’s website. (While they can be found at other retailers, I prefer to buy directly from Nike if I can find a good price due to their excellent return policy .)
The regular price is $80 for each style, and the sale price varies by color. I’ve seen prices from $48.97 to $68.97. But there’s an extra discount—Nike is also offering the promo code BFRIDAY for 25% off. I added one of these cheaper pairs to my cart, applied the promo code, and the price dropped to $36.73. Shipping is $8, but that brings the total to just $44.73. That’s less than $45 with shipping for a pair of sneakers that, with any luck, might last a thousand miles.
