Apple’s Newest AirPods Pro Are on Sale at Their Lowest Price yet Thanks to This Early Black Friday Sale.
Apple’s latest AirPods Pro are simply amazing . They offer superior sound quality, up to two times better noise cancellation than previous Pro models, and even include a built-in heart rate sensor. However, these features don’t come cheap. Like most new Apple products, they’re pricey, typically costing $249 wherever you buy them.
While they’re certainly expensive, I don’t think the suggested retail price is unreasonable. The new AirPods Pro have always cost $249, and this third generation adds new features without increasing the price. Because the earbuds are so new , the price has never dropped, meaning even during major sales like October’s Prime Day, you were still spending $249.
I assumed this would be the case for both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but I was wrong. Stores like Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart are currently discounting headphones by 12%, for just $29.01. It’s not the biggest discount of the early Black Friday season, but it’s still noteworthy. If you’ve already been eyeing these items, why not save almost $30?
As mentioned, Apple claims twice the noise cancellation of the AirPods Pro 2, but also four times the noise cancellation of the original AirPods Pro and the noise-canceling AirPods 4. Furthermore, these Pro earbuds boast the highest level of water and dust resistance: they have an IP57 rating, higher than the IP54 rating of the AirPods Pro 2.
You also won’t need to charge them as often as the previous-generation Pro earbuds. Apple claims eight hours of listening time on a single charge, while the AirPods Pro 2 offer six. However, the added noise cancellation appears to reduce power consumption slightly: the AirPods Pro 3 are rated for 24 hours of active noise cancellation, while the second-generation Pros are rated for 30 hours.
Don’t write off the AirPods Pro 2
At this point, the existence of the AirPods Pro 3 doesn’t make the AirPods Pro 2 obsolete. In fact, for those who don’t mind missing out on features like additional noise cancellation or a heart rate sensor, the second-generation Pros are still a great buy , as they offer many of the same features as the newest model. They sound great, use the same H2 chip as the third-generation Pros, and come with active noise cancellation, Transparency mode, and Conversation Detection, which automatically lowers the audio volume when the AirPods detect you’re talking to someone. Both Pros also feature Apple’s new Live Translation feature, which lets you converse with someone speaking a language you don’t understand: your AirPods will translate their words in real time, so you can hear what they’re saying in your target language.
But the best thing about the AirPods Pro 2? The price. These earbuds are regularly discounted at various retailers. Currently, the best price I’ve seen is at Walmart, where they’re selling for $139 . For a pair of earbuds that originally retailed for $249, that’s a fantastic deal. Of course, these prices fluctuate: on Amazon, the second-generation Pros are $208.99 at the time of writing. But if you don’t need the latest and greatest AirPods Pro and you find the AirPods Pro 2 at the Walmart price, I highly recommend considering them.
