Try This Free Alternative Plex Client If You Don’t Like the New Interface

Plex has been rolling out a new user interface for some time now, and to say it’s caused controversy among users would be an understatement. Reddit users regularly complain about the confusing and slow interface; others wish the app was more focused on personal media servers, rather than things like movie rentals .

Plezy is an alternative Plex client that solves these problems. Available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, the app is fully focused on personal media servers.

Plez has a simple user interface, but its main advantage over the official Plex app is speed. Plez is faster than the official Plex app: it launches faster, searches faster, and plays videos faster. If you’ve ever experienced the frustration of waiting for Plex to load, Plez might be what you need.

However, Plezy isn’t perfect. Some key Plex features, including live streaming and offline downloads, aren’t supported at all. There are no apps for Roku, Apple TV, or other TV platforms. The app also can’t combine shows and movies from multiple servers, even for search or the “Now Watching” list, so those using multiple servers will have to regularly switch between them. This minor drawback is more than compensated for by the improved performance.

What do you think at the moment?

But if you just need a quick way to play personal media on your computer, phone, or tablet, Plezy is faster and easier than the official Plex app. Plex is a great way to create your own streaming service , but the company has been downplaying this use case for some time now—it’s nice to see an alternative client focused on this.

The desktop version of Plezy for macOS, Windows, and Linux is available for free. The iOS version costs $4. The Google Play link was not yet active at the time of writing, but you can download the APK file from Github and install it in third-party mode .
