Check Your Email for a $20 YouTube TV Credit

Following social media reports last week that some YouTube TV subscribers noticed a $60 bonus waiting in their account settings , Variety reports that YouTube is now sending subscribers an additional $20 bonus. The company has not yet made an official statement on the matter, though a YouTube representative confirmed the timing of the bonus to TechCrunch . This news follows YouTube’s promise to provide YouTube TV subscribers with a $20 bonus if the suspension of Disney content on the Live TV service continues.
According to the report, emails with instructions on how to claim the bonus began sending out yesterday, and “all bonuses will be issued by Wednesday, November 12.” This marks just over ten days since Disney content disappeared from YouTube TV in late October.
Variety’s report also emphasizes that the discount is a one-time offer, which answers one of the most important questions surrounding this deal. For example, the previous $60 discount was actually six $10 discounts spread over six months.
Subscribers could theoretically use the savings to purchase a monthly package of Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN (with ads) , although this is optional. YouTube previously promised a similar compensation equivalent to the cost of a month of Paramount+ when it seemed Paramount channels might leave the YouTube TV service , although the deal was finalized before this became necessary.
The most important thing to know about this bonus is that it’s not applied automatically and isn’t just free money. It’s a discount on your next billing period, meaning you’ll need to renew your YouTube TV subscription for at least another month to take advantage of it. Don’t expect a gift card or cashback. YouTube TV currently costs $73 per month for the first three months and $83 for subsequent months. With the bonus, the price drops to $53 or $63, depending on your subscription length.
To apply the bonus to your account, keep an eye on the email. If you don’t receive it by Wednesday, please contact YouTube TV support . You can also check your account settings page , under Settings > Membership > Manage . If the new bonus is even slightly similar to the old one, you’ll be able to apply it there. Make sure you’re on a desktop computer—the previous bonus wasn’t visible to mobile users. (Note: If you don’t see the Manage button next to the Basic plan in the Membership section, you’re likely not signed in to a Family Manager account; only users in that account, not other members of the family, can claim the bonus.)
