Apple TV Subscribers Will Soon Be Able to Add Peacock for $2 More.
If I were asked which streaming service offers the best TV series, I’d say Apple TV (recently renamed from Apple TV+ ). But if I were asked which has the fewest TV series, I’d also say Apple TV . I love Severance and all, but when it doesn’t release new episodes, there usually aren’t enough to keep me subscribed. That’s why I’m so excited about the new bundle offer from Apple and Peacock: for just $2 more than a standard Apple TV subscription—or the same price as a monthly Peacock subscription—you can get both services.
Peacock isn’t my favorite streaming service, but since it draws heavily from the NBC and Universal catalogs, it usually has enough content to keep me interested between new seasons of Poker Face , especially when it comes to its movie library. The quality isn’t as high as Apple’s, but it’s enough that you’ll likely find something to watch when you need background noise. Pairing it with Apple TV is a great way to compensate for the weaknesses of each platform.
How to subscribe to the Apple TV/Peacock bundle
According to Apple , the new bundle will go on sale on October 20th, so it’s not quite available yet. But once it does, you’ll be able to pay $14.99 per month for Apple TV and Peacock Premium together, or $19.99 per month to upgrade to Apple TV and Peacock Premium Plus without ads. Considering a month of Apple TV costs $12.99 on its own and a month of Peacock Premium costs an additional $10.99, that’s quite a bargain.
It’s also a good time for Halloween, as Peacock is home to classics like The Thing and more recent hits like The Chillers . For some reason, many Universal monster movies seem to have migrated to Tubi this year, but Peacock’s horror selection is still stronger than Apple’s.
Whether the extra $5 for Peacock Premium Plus is worth it depends on how ad-averse you are. This package is significantly more expensive than Apple TV on its own, but on the other hand, a month of Peacock Premium Plus typically costs $16.99, so the $19.99 you’ll pay for Apple TV is a pretty good deal. For that extra money, you’ll get rid of ads on Peacock and also get the ability to download content for offline viewing.
Apple states that once the offer goes live, you’ll be able to access it either through Apple TV or the Peacock website or apps. However, if you have an Apple One Family or Premier subscription, which includes Apple TV and several other Apple platforms, you’ll need to subscribe to Peacock separately. However, Apple does say it will offer Apple One subscribers a 35% discount on Peacock Premium Plus, bringing the subscription price down to approximately $11 per month, roughly the same as Peacock Premium with ads.
