You Can Get the Pixel 9a for 30% Off Until Prime Day Ends Tonight.

Amazon’s Big Deal Days promotion ends tonight, October 8th, but until then, Lifehacker will be sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price tracking tools.

Despite how expensive smartphones are these days, we’ve become accustomed to it. It’s no surprise that the latest iPhone will cost over $1,000, while a foldable smartphone could sell for $2,000.

The thing is, you don’t really need to spend a thousand or two to buy a great phone. There are options in both the mid-range and budget ranges that combine features, performance, and price, offering a better value for your money. You might not get the fanciest phone on the market, but it will do exactly what you need without breaking the bank.

The Pixel 9a is a prime example. Google’s “budget” Pixel is a fantastic smartphone in its own right: it features a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 1080p resolution and a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Google claims the 5,100mAh battery is rated for 30+ hours of battery life, or up to 100 hours in “Extreme Power Saving” mode. The smartphone is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chip, which is also used in the more expensive Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. The smartphone also features two rear cameras: a 48-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, as well as a 13-megapixel front camera.

All these features are available in a phone that retails for $499. Not bad. But if you factor in the Amazon Prime Day promotion, which reduces the suggested retail price by 30%, you can get a very powerful smartphone for $349. That’s even better. However, if you can justify the extra expense, I would consider upgrading to the 256GB model . This will double the internal storage, reducing the burden of file management, and while it costs an extra $100, it’s still 25% less than this model’s $599 suggested retail price.

What do you think at the moment?

Don’t think that the Pixel 10 is already on sale, especially with a Prime Day discount , that you should buy it instead of the Pixel 9a. Our editor, Michelle Erhardt , still believes the Pixel 9a is a better deal than Google’s latest and greatest smartphones. In fact, she calls it “the best Google phone for most people.”
