In my review of the flagship Soundboks 4 —the Soundboks Go’s big brother—I noted that I hesitated to crank it up to its maximum volume of 126 dB outdoors, primarily due to concerns about noise. While I’m glad I did, not everyone needs that kind of power. Meet the more affordable and compact Soundboks Go.

The Soundboks Go is much more portable and almost as loud, with the same 40 hours of battery life. It produces an impressive 121 decibels from a compact 9-kilogram speaker. It’s also durable and has an IP65 splash and dust resistance rating. I took it to a local soccer field and was able to play music for 22 players in the rain, even surviving a couple of drops.

This speaker is designed for those who want a convenient, portable speaker that can be carried with one hand but can handle serious abuse while still delivering excellent sound. While it may lack some party-ready features and capabilities, it handles simple tasks admirably.
