I’m the Tech Editor, and Here Are the Best Tech Deals to Check Out Right Now During Prime Day.

Amazon Big Deal Days is running from October 7th to 8th, and before it ends, Lifehacker will be sharing the best sales based on product reviews, comparisons, and price tracking tools.

October is here, which means it’s time for another Prime Day sale. Unlike July, which featured four consecutive Prime Days, this month Amazon is holding its traditional two-day sale: October 7th and 8th. These “Big Deal Days” offer a multitude of discounts on devices across the tech spectrum. But a discount alone doesn’t make a purchase a good deal, so I scoured Amazon’s offerings to find the best deals on tech.

Best Prime Day deals on laptops

M4 MacBook Air (13-inch)
$799.00 on Amazon
$999.00 Save $200.00

$799.00 on Amazon
$999.00 Save $200.00

If you’re looking for a new laptop, there are some great Prime Day deals in October, especially on MacBooks:

  • M4 MacBook Air (13-inch) : $799 on Amazon (was $999). If you’re in the market for a new laptop, few offer a better value than the M4 MacBook Air. For $800 on Prime Day, you’ll get a powerful M4 processor with 16GB of RAM. Unless your work involves professional graphics or requires a lot of processing power, this configuration will likely last for years.

  • M4 MacBook Air (15-inch) : $989 on Amazon (was $1,199): This is essentially the same as the M4 13-inch MacBook Air, only larger. If you want a larger screen and are willing to pay an extra $190, this is a great price for this MacBook.

  • M4 MacBook Pro (14-inch) : $1,399 at Amazon (was $1,599): I don’t think this MacBook is for everyone, but I think it’s a good fit for those who want “pro” features at a reasonable price. It’s the same M4 chip as the Air, but with the Pro you get a higher-quality mini-LED display, an HDMI port, an SD card slot, an additional USB-C port, and 512GB of storage. Is it worth the extra $600 over the 13-inch Air? Probably not for most people. But if you’re truly interested in the “best” MacBook design Apple has to offer, this is the way to go.

  • Microsoft Surface Laptop : $799 on Amazon (was $999). If you’re looking for a laptop with a MacBook-like interface but running Windows, the Microsoft Surface Laptop could be a great choice. The Surface offers a touchscreen display in a compact design, 16GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and a Snapdragon X Plus ARM processor.

  • Alienware 16 Aurora : $1,179.99 on Amazon (was $1,399.99): Dell’s Alienware gaming laptops are offering great deals during Prime Day. For $1,180, you can get a 16-inch laptop with an Intel Core 7-240H processor, 16GB of RAM, an RTX 5060 graphics card, and a 1TB SSD. Other deals on more powerful Alienware laptops are also available.

  • Galaxy Book5 Pro : $1,199.99 at Amazon (was $1,699.99): Samsung’s 16-inch Galaxy Book5 is heavily discounted this Prime Day. This model features a 2880×1800 touchscreen display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD.

Prime Day’s best deals on tablets and e-readers

iPad A16 (128 GB)
$279.00 on Amazon
$349.00 Save $70.00

$279.00 on Amazon
$349.00 Save $70.00

When it comes to tablets, this Prime Day I’m focusing on a few recommendations in two categories: iPads and e-readers.

  • iPad (A16) : $279 at Amazon (was $349): The best iPad for most people is on sale for a great price during Prime Day. This 11-inch iPad is available for just $279, but you might want to consider a model with more storage. The 256GB model is currently 16% off for $379 , and if you think you’ll need the extra storage, the $100 will be worth it in the long run.

  • iPad mini : $379 at Amazon (was $499): This is my favorite Apple iPad, mostly because it’s so great. The mini is small but powerful, capable of everything you’d expect from an iPad in a compact form factor. You can get it for just $379 during Prime Day, but again, the 128GB storage might be a deal-breaker. Consider getting the discounted 256GB model for $479 instead of $599.

  • Kindle Colorsoft : $199.99 at Amazon (was $249.99): While the Kindle isn’t a traditional tablet, it remains one of the best e-readers. The Colorsoft features a color display, which is especially useful for reading graphic novels.

  • Boox Palma 2 : $269.99 on Amazon (was $299.99): If you’re willing to spend a little more on an e-reader, the Boox Palma 2 is your best choice . It’s a favorite of Lifehacker editor Joel Cunningham , partly because it combines the convenience of Android with the e-ink display typical of e-readers. You can download any reading app on this device, but its limitations mean you won’t want to be distracted by distracting apps like you might on a smartphone.

Best Prime Day deals on phones

Pixel 9 (128 GB)
$549.00 on Amazon
$799.00 Save $250.00

$549.00 on Amazon
$799.00 Save $250.00

Amazon isn’t focusing on smartphones this year, so it’s not the retailer to turn to if you’re looking for a discount on a new phone. However, if you’re in the market for a new Pixel phone, consider these two deals:

  • Google Pixel 9 : $549 at Amazon (was $799): This is Google’s 2024 flagship smartphone, and while the Pixel 10 is also available, you’ll save $100 by opting for the previous generation. Last year, our editor, Michelle Erhardt, thought the Pixel 9 was so good you don’t need the Pro .

  • Google Pixel 9 Pro XL : $749 on Amazon (was $1,099). However, if you prefer the Pro model, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is also on sale during Prime Day. You can save 32% on this phone, which features a larger, higher-quality display, more RAM, and a higher-resolution camera.

  • Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 : $1,704.99 on Amazon (was $2,119.99): Samsung’s foldable smartphones tend to be expensive , so if you’re interested, it’s best to take advantage of discounts like these. The Z Fold 7 is currently discounted to $415 on Amazon. That’s a pretty good savings.

Prime Day’s best smartwatch deals

Apple Watch Series 10
$309.00 on Amazon
$429.00 Save $120.00

$309.00 on Amazon
$429.00 Save $120.00

Amazon’s Prime Day deals list includes several smartwatch models, but many of the advertised discounts are on watches I wouldn’t recommend. Instead, consider deals from reputable brands, such as these:

  • Apple Watch Series 10 : $309 on Amazon (was $429): Apple’s newest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 11, is simply gorgeous. Last year’s model, the Series 10, is also excellent, and you can get it now for $80-90 less. If you don’t mind the lack of blood pressure alerts and 5G connectivity, the Series 10 is the one for you.

  • Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) : $169.99 at Amazon (was $249). If you’re looking for a simple Apple Watch that can perform the basic functions an Apple Watch should, the 2022 Apple Watch SE is a great choice, especially given the Prime Day sale. Apple released a newer SE model this year, but the SE 2 is currently $79 cheaper.

  • Apple Watch Ultra 2 : $649 at Amazon (was $799): The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is Apple’s newest, most expensive smartwatch, but the Ultra 2 is still worth considering, especially since it costs $150 less.

  • Pixel Watch 3 (41mm) : $170.99 at Amazon (was $249.99). If you have an Android device, especially a Pixel, the Pixel Watch 3 is a great buy. The 41mm version is the most affordable, but both Wi-Fi models are $70 off as part of the Prime Day deal. Likewise, LTE models are $100 off. For example, the 41mm LTE watch is $249.

  • Galaxy Watch Ultra : $534.99 at Amazon (was $649.99): Amazon is running several sales on Samsung watches this year, but the Galaxy Watch Ultra has the biggest discount. The Titanium Gray version offers the biggest discount, but other colors are only $549.99.

  • Galaxy Watch 7 (40mm) : $199.99 on Amazon (was $249.99). If you’re looking for a simple yet functional Galaxy Watch, the latest generation offers the second-biggest discount of any Samsung watch. For example, you can save a little on the latest Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 , but compare the current discount of $314.98 to the Galaxy Watch 7, which is priced at $199.99. For Galaxy users who want to track workouts and receive notifications, the Watch 7 is a great option.

  • Garmin Venu X1 : $699.99 at Amazon (was $799.99): As Lifehacker editor Beth Squareschi explains , this is the first sale on the Garmin Venu X1 watch. And it’s a great first sale, as Amazon is offering the watch at $100 off. If you’re looking for an Apple Watch Ultra alternative with Garmin’s superior workout tracking technology, this watch could be a great option.

Best Prime Day deals on earbuds and over-ear headphones

AirPods Pro (2nd generation)
$169.99 on Amazon
$249.00 Save $79.01

$169.99 on Amazon
$249.00 Save $79.01

This is one category where Amazon shines. You’ll find plenty of great deals on typically expensive in-ear headphones, including:

What do you think at the moment?

  • AirPods Pro 2 : $169.99 on Amazon (was $249): The AirPods Pro 3 may be Apple’s latest and greatest professional headphones, but they cost $250. The AirPods Pro 2, which remain excellent headphones even in 2025, are $80 cheaper this Prime Day. You’ll still get excellent sound quality, a seamless connection with Apple devices, and excellent active noise cancellation and transparency modes.

  • AirPods 4 : $89 on Amazon (was $129): For those who don’t want to pay too much for the “pro” option, AirPods 4 are also a great deal this Prime Day. You can get a pair for just $89, a 31% discount, and AirPods 4 with active noise cancellation are available for $119, a 34% discount.

  • Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 : $169 on Amazon (was $229). If you have an Android phone, especially a Pixel, you should consider the Pixel Buds Pro 2. Currently priced at $169, 26% off their suggested retail price, these earbuds offer excellent noise cancellation in a lightweight design.

  • Bose QuietComfort Bluetooth Headphones : $129 on Amazon (was $179): Bose is known for its noise-canceling technology, so buying a pair of their QuietComfort headphones with active noise cancellation is a smart decision. They’re also significantly less expensive than Apple or Google’s professional headphones, though they can compete with the noise-canceling AirPods 4. However, if you prefer in-ear headphones with silicone ear tips, consider Bose.

  • AirPods Max (USB-C) : $429 on Amazon (was $549): I love my AirPods Max, but it’s hard to recommend them at the suggested retail price. However, with them 22% off during Prime Day, that changes. $429 is still a steep price for over-ear headphones, but if you’re fully committed to the Apple ecosystem, these earbuds are fantastic . They sound great, are compatible with all your Apple devices, and have exceptional active noise cancellation—perfect for frequent flyers.

  • Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones : $188 on Amazon (was $348): If I weren’t such a die-hard Apple fan, these would be the first headphones I’d buy. Sony makes excellent over-ear headphones, and it’s great that they’re so reasonably priced. If you’re not interested in Apple-exclusive features, the WH-1000XM4 are hard to beat for $188.

  • Bose QuietComfort Bluetooth Headphones : $199 on Amazon (was $359): If you’re looking for Bose-level active noise cancellation but prefer over-ear headphones, these might be for you. They’re currently 45% off on Amazon during Prime Day.

Prime Day’s Best Game Deals

Meta Quest 3S (256 GB)
$329.00 on Amazon
$399.99 Save $70.99

$329.00 on Amazon
$399.99 Save $70.99

Amazon doesn’t have many great deals on games during Prime Day in October , but if you search carefully, you can find a few interesting sales:

  • Meta Quest 3S : $329 on Amazon (was $399.99): If you’ve been waiting to dive into the world of VR gaming, Prime Day might just be your excuse. The 256GB Meta Quest 3S is currently 18% off and comes with Batman: Arkham Shadow . For even bigger savings, you can get the 128GB version for $249 , which also comes with Gorilla Tag .

  • WD Black 2TB SSD for PS5 : $180.49 on Amazon (was $251.99): Modern games take up a lot of space, and our console’s built-in SSDs often struggle to keep up. Instead of managing your PS5’s storage, you can purchase an additional SSD. This WD Black SSD adds 2TB for just $180, a 28% discount. If you need more or less space, there are options available in 1TB, 4TB, and even 8TB.

There are also some good deals on console games right now, including:
