If you’re looking for a smart alarm clock to help you start your day smoothly (and wind down in the evening), the 2024 Amazon Echo Spot is currently 44% off as part of the Prime Day deal. This is the lowest price ever, according to price trackers . The new Echo Spot, an updated version of the original Echo Spot, is available in three colors and runs on Amazon Alexa. It also functions as a speaker, integrating seamlessly with other Alexa-compatible smart home systems.
As noted in this PCMag review , it’s similar in shape to the Echo Pop (which is also on sale), but slightly larger, with a speaker grille on the bottom and a bright color touchscreen. It features dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and is easily set up through the Alexa app. While it remains visible from a few feet away regardless of room lighting, visibility deteriorates when viewed from an angle, and the 320×240 pixel resolution doesn’t make it the best choice for visual communication and content viewing, especially given the lack of a camera or video playback support. However, for those concerned about privacy, the lack of a camera may be an advantage.
However, it displays more information than the Echo Dot with a clock and has basic touch controls that make it easy to check the time and weather, check what music is playing, and configure other smart devices in the home. According to a PCMag review, the speaker itself delivers “decent sound with a bit of bass” for its size, making it suitable for everyday listening but not a full-fledged speaker.
If you don’t mind limited information on the screen and are looking for a touchscreen alarm clock with basic smart home control features, a reliable Alexa response, and decent sound quality for its size, the 2024 Amazon Echo Spot is a modern version of a clock radio that doesn’t claim to have any advanced features. However, if you’re looking for a full-fledged smart display or more powerful sound, this option may not be ideal. Still, for $45, this bedside assistant ticks many boxes.
