New to Prime Day? We’ve got everything you need to get started . Sales information is accurate at the time of publication, but prices and stock levels are subject to change.
If you’re considering an Apple Watch but aren’t willing to pay a higher price for features you’ll never use, consider buying an older model at a discount. Of course, I’m not suggesting you buy a watch that no longer supports software updates; rather, you want a watch with watchOS 26 and the features you truly need in a smartwatch. If that sounds like you, I’d recommend the Apple Watch SE 2 .
During Amazon’s October Prime Day sale, the 44mm Apple Watch SE 2 dropped to $200 on select models, a 30% discount off the regular price. This isn’t the lowest price ever—the watch briefly sold for $170 in June—but it’s comparable to the lowest price during the July Prime Day sale , and I still think it’s a great deal.
The Apple Watch SE 2 can track running, swimming, cycling, and many other workouts. It also features fall detection, which will alert loved ones and emergency services if you fall and lose consciousness. It’s also worth noting that this product, like most Apple Watches, is available in two screen sizes: 40mm and 44mm. If you’re looking for a smaller watch, the 40mm Apple Watch SE 2 is also on sale for $179 (28% off) on Prime Day. This isn’t as good a deal as the 44mm watch, as the 40mm model typically retails for under $170. However, it’s $70 cheaper than the 40mm SE 3, so you’re saving quite a bit.
This price makes the Apple Watch SE 2 a great starter smartwatch for iPhone users, as long as you don’t mind giving up the SE 3’s new features. This watch features a more crack-resistant display glass, sleep apnea notifications, wrist temperature measurement, 5G support (cellular models only), wrist gesture control, built-in Siri, and fast charging support. For some, these features may be worth the extra cost ($250 for the 40mm model and $280 for the 44mm model), but if you’re looking for a smartwatch that can handle the basics, the SE 2 offers a great value.
