These are exciting times for iPhone users. Of course, iOS 26 has been released , bringing a number of major changes to the platform . For the more adventurous, there’s also the iOS 26.1 beta , which continues to build on the foundation of Apple’s latest OS. As if that weren’t enough, Apple has also released another iPhone update—this one designed to fix issues with the previous one.

Apple released the iOS 26.0.1 update on Monday after a brief period of rumors about its development. Such updates are not uncommon: Apple released iOS 18.0.1 three weeks after iOS 18 last year. The update does not introduce new features or changes; rather, it focuses on bug fixes and stability improvements.

According to the release notes, we see that Apple has fixed five bugs:

  • Fixes a bug that causes Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to disconnect and reconnect on iPhone 17 series. This bug may also cause CarPlay to disconnect in some vehicles.

  • Fixes a bug that prevents users from connecting to a cellular network after installing iOS 26.

  • Fixes a bug that could cause artifacts to appear in photos taken on the iPhone 17 series.

This update also includesa fix for a FontParser security vulnerability . This vulnerability could have allowed an attacker to distribute a malicious font, which, if processed, could have caused an unexpected app termination or process memory corruption. Apple patched this vulnerability by releasing similar updates for iPad, Mac, older iPhones, older Macs, and Vision Pro. Apple also released watchOS 26.0.2 and tvOS 26.0.1, but did not disclose the vulnerabilities for these updates.

What do you think at the moment?

You can usually tell the significance of an Apple update by the numbers in its name: an update like iOS 26 (a round number) denotes a major update released once a year; an update like iOS 26.1 (with one decimal place) denotes a minor update that still introduces new features; and an update like iOS 26.0.1 (with two decimal places) denotes a stability or security update.

You can install iOS 26.0.1 at your earliest convenience by going to Settings > General > Software Update .
