The Little Man From the Focus-Friend App Now Has Two Rooms in His House

Did you know you can set up Google to filter out junk? Follow these steps to improve your search results, including adding my work on Lifehacker as a preferred source .

For the first time since Focus Friend overtook ChatGPT in the App Store , there’s a major addition that lets you unlock a new set of rewards. Before, putting your phone down gave Bob time to knit socks that could be exchanged for decorations for his room. Now, there’s a whole new room waiting for you.

Focus Friend is a concentration timer app in the same vein as Forest and Flora. When you start the timer in Focus Friend, a little guy starts knitting, and the idea is that you put your phone down and don’t use any other apps until he’s finished. When the timer is up, he’ll happily show you that he’s knitted some socks! The socks can be used to buy decorations for his room, so the more you use the app, the cozier his little home becomes.

The new room couldn’t have come at a better time. Like many regular users of the app, I’ve been using up the little room that was originally reserved for my bean. My little guy (named Beanie) has a desk and chair, a window, a potted plant, and even some fairy lights on the wall. But now, with this update, he can walk into (or teleport up the beanstalk, I guess?) the living room!

How to Unlock Living Room in Focus Friend

You won’t see the new room right away, but here’s how you can get into it:

What do you think at the moment?

  1. Update the Focus Friend app in the App Store or Google Play .

  2. In Focus Friend, tap the brush icon.

  3. See? In the upper right corner? Zoom out and you’ll see a completely different room.

  4. Open a room with 1000 socks.

Yes, socks are worth it. Socks are an in-game currency your bob earns when you leave him alone. (Bob knits socks for free users. Premium subscribers get more socks, and bob also knits scarves that can be exchanged for premium versions of jewelry.)

Once unlocked, you can begin decorating the extension just like the original room. The new items are more expensive than those available in the first room, with some items costing as little as 50 socks. The new items include:

  • Window with curtains, from 500 socks

  • Three places for pictures on the walls, starting from 150-200 socks for each.

  • TV (I almost thought it was a big painting) on the right wall, prices start at 300 socks.

  • Lamp in the corner between two walls, from 600 socks

  • Sofa by the left wall, price from 600 socks.

  • Side table under the TV on the right wall under a large painting, price from 300 socks.

  • A shelf with shaped boxes on the right wall, starting with 200 socks.

  • A set of small bookshelves on the right wall, starting at 500 socks.

  • Coffee table in the center of the room, price from 300 socks.

  • Small “beginner’s mat” starting with 300 socks

  • Chair, from 500 socks

  • End table starting at 300 socks

Earning that many socks will keep your Bob busy for a while! I wish there was an app that let me clean up Beanie’s room. He feels a little cluttered.
