Portable outdoor speakers are meant to be tossed in a bag and taken on the go, and JBL’s Flip line has always leaned into that idea. The Flip 7 is currently $99.95 on Woot until next week or until a sale, which is significantly cheaper than Amazon’s $149.95 and even cheaper than the all-time low of $129.95, according to price tracker . Plus, Prime members get free shipping (everyone else pays $6), and the speaker is backed by Woot’s 90-day warranty . For a rugged little speaker built for camping, biking, or just lounging in the backyard, it seems like a pretty reasonable deal.

The Flip 7 doesn’t look much different from the Flip 6 , but it does have a few small quality-of-life improvements. The woofer is slightly larger, so the bass is more powerful without drowning out everything else, and the 35 watts of total power give it more presence than you’d expect from something the size of a soda can. Plus, at just over a pound, it’s easy to carry around, and JBL makes that even easier by including a carabiner that attaches to a bag strap or belt loop so you don’t have to stuff it in your pocket. The new Auracast button makes it easy to pair with other compatible speakers, and the rubberized housing has been beefed up to provide IP68 durability, meaning it’s completely dust-proof and can survive underwater for half an hour. JBL also claims drop protection from up to three feet.

What do you think at the moment?

The Flip 7 isn’t perfect, though. At higher volumes, especially above 70%, the highs can become harsh and fatiguing, according to this PCMag review . JBL also ditched extras like a speakerphone, a 3.5mm AUX input, or high-res Bluetooth codecs . You get lossless audio via USB-C, though the difference isn’t huge. One downside is that the box only includes the speaker and carabiner — no charger or cable — so you’ll need to bring your own USB-C setup. Battery life is rated at 14 hours, or 16 hours if you enable Playtime Boost in the app, which cuts the bass to squeeze out more runtime. If you want something cheaper with more features, the Anker Soundcore Motion 300 is a great alternative.
