Labor Day tech sales continue to ramp up , and one deal that caught my eye is a discount on Google’s first foldable phone. Woot is currently offering the new unlocked Google Pixel Fold for $579.99 (256GB) or $699.99 (512GB), which is about $40 cheaper than the phone’s price on Amazon. Keep in mind that Woot only ships to the 48 contiguous U.S. states (free shipping for Prime members; $6 for everyone else).
With Google’s Tensor G2 processor and a 4,821mAh battery, it’s not as fast or long-lasting as later models like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold , but it’s still good for everyday use. Since it’s a 2023 release, the performance-boosting features won’t be as advanced either, but at a significantly lower price, it still offers significant value and has earned a loyal following. The first phone’s wide, book-style screen and wider aspect ratio may be more comfortable for some users compared to newer models that are a bit narrower.
The phone is light and thin, measuring about half an inch thick when closed, but it’s also very durable thanks to a durable hinge, Gorilla Glass Victus coating, and IPX8 water resistance, meaning it can stay underwater for up to half an hour. It has a 5.8-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports 4K video recording and has three rear lenses (48MP wide, 10.8MP ultra-wide, and 10.8MP telephoto) and two front-facing cameras (9.5MP on the outer screen and 8MP on the inner one).
