Labor Day deals usually involve buying a cheaper TV or new headphones , but this year one of the biggest discounts is on the Samsung Odyssey G9 OLED gaming monitor. The 49-inch G95C model has dropped from its usual $999.99 to $699.99 — an all-time low, according to price trackers .
Not a bad deal, especially if you’re looking for an ultra-wide monitor for gaming or multitasking. At 49 inches diagonally and with a 32:9 aspect ratio, this screen is essentially two 27-inch monitors combined into one curved panel, but with no gap between them. The 1800R curvature keeps the edges of the screen in view, so the display doesn’t overwhelm the space, but instead draws you in for an immersive gaming experience.
For gamers, the appeal is obvious. The 240Hz refresh rate and instant response time ensure fast-paced action is sharp and blur-free. Variable refresh rate support is extensive, including HDMI VRR, FreeSync, and G-SYNC, so screen tearing is rare. However, if your graphics card can’t maintain a stable frame rate, you may notice flickering in dark scenes.
