This humble little charger has saved my life — or rather, my phone’s life — so many times since I bought it six weeks ago. It’s far superior to what I used before, or any other charger. It’s now on sale for 20% off, for about $26, and you should.

The Rorry portable charger is superior to any portable charger I’ve ever owned, and I’ve owned a lot of them. I use my phone pretty much all the time, and since my iPhone 14 is getting a little old, the battery just can’t handle what I put it through every day. Since I’m always running around, I always need a charger. The previous charger I had before the Rorry was bigger and bulkier, and while it had both Lightning and USB-C cables so I didn’t have to carry them separately, it lacked a lot of the perks of that great device.

Not only does the Rorry have the same cables, but it’s also much smaller and sleeker. It also lasts longer on a single charge and even has a keychain for portability. But what I love most is how quickly it charges my devices. I’ve been using portable chargers for years and have come to think of them less as chargers and more as stabilizers, so to speak. When I used to plug my phone into one, I didn’t expect it to increase the charge percentage so dramatically; I expected it to stay the same. The Rorry, on the other hand, charges my iPhone or Apple Watch quickly, significantly increasing the charge percentage.

Yes, I said Apple Watch: There’s a flat magnetic panel on the front of the charger that charges my smartwatch. I constantly track my steps and health data , so I get anxious when my Apple Watch is less than half-charged, which is why this has saved me so many times. The company also claims that, with 5,000 mAh of capacity, it’s enough to fully charge an iPhone 15 once or an Apple Watch 10 times. I can confirm that I’ve been able to charge my watch with this charger for four to five days straight before the charger itself needs recharging.

What do you think at the moment?

I can only compare it to the ones I had before, which I usually bought without checking the specs. For comparison, I compared it to another 5000mAh charger in the same price range, the Mekiki version, which sells for about $23 . The first problem with the Mekiki is immediately apparent: the charging cables do not attach like my Rorry. Mekiki does not offer this because it is completely wireless. Wireless chargers are cool, but you should not put your phone in your bag to charge it while traveling.

The Mekiki claims to charge faster when using a cable, but that’s only true if you have a cable. Its biggest advantage is that it’s much more compact than the Rorry. The Rorry measures 4.33 x 2.83 x 0.83 inches, while the Mekiki is only 3.14 x 2.75 x 0.5 inches.

For me, it’s not a huge improvement. My Rorry is smaller than my phone, about the size of a credit card, and the built-in cables, keychain, and sleek design make it perfect. I used all three ports — USB-C, Lightning, and the Apple Watch platform — at once and found that it still charged everything pretty quickly. It costs more than $26, but you don’t have to pay more.
