The Labor Day pre-sale is here, and if you’re in the market for a new tablet (especially relevant for college students with September just around the corner), the Google Pixel tablet is currently 38% off, making it the lowest price ever.
The 128GB version is down to $250, while the 256GB version is also 34% off. The Pixel Tablet features an 11-inch display and 8-megapixel front and rear cameras, and comes with the Google Assistant for hands-free control and Google AI to help with everyday tasks and easy photo editing. Gemini can help with productivity tasks like brainstorming, note-taking, and more, while Quick Share (similar to Air Drop) lets you securely share files like videos and photos with nearby devices.
While the battery is said to last up to 12 hours of streaming video on a single charge, PCMag’s testing shows that’s not the case. The Pixel’s battery life is only about half an hour behind the iPad’s. The same review notes that the tablet went from 0 to 10% in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Users also praise the lack of lag, smooth interface, and front-facing speakers with clear audio. One reviewer likens it to a “smartphone on steroids,” noting that it handles many laptop-like tasks in a lighter package.
Note that this tablet doesn’t come with a dock that turns it into a Nest Hub-style smart display with built-in speakers and casting functionality. It also doesn’t come with a stylus, and it may not be a good fit for those who prefer high-refresh-rate displays. Still, if you already use an Android or Pixel device like a phone, headphones, or Pixel watch, the Google Pixel tablet is a great addition for easily switching audio systems and controlling your smart home, especially at its current Labor Day price.
