For Power Creatives: Mac Studio with M4 Max

The Mac Studio, like the Mac Mini, is an out-of-the-box computer that lets you use your own display and peripherals. Unlike the Mac Mini, these are powerful, compact machines that are affordable (at least for Apple). This model has an M4 Max processor, 36GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage for $1,900 (a $200 discount from the regular price).

For Zoom calls (and work): Lenovo ThinkCentre M90a All-in-One

The last thing you want to worry about when doing office work is how you’ll look on Zoom. Luckily, this Lenovo all-in-one PC takes the hassle out of it. In addition to packing a solid 24-inch 1080p display, it also has a built-in 5-megapixel webcam on an adjustable mount that’s mounted on the top of the display.

For Overwhelming Power: The Corsair Vengeance Gaming PC

Corsair makes great gaming PCs, and this pre-built Vengeance is a killer! It features an Intel Core i9-14900KF processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 2TB M.2 SSD. This system is priced at $4,000, which is $1,000 less than the regular price. Considering the 5090 graphics card alone can cost over $2,000, this is a great deal for your next gaming or video editing setup if you need maximum performance.

For the Future of Gaming (or Work): The Alienware Aurora Gaming Desktop

For a PC that’s marketed as a gaming machine, this Alienware desktop can fit surprisingly well into an office environment. It’s equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor, 32GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card. The price is $2,760, which is $390 less than the regular price. It’s a good choice if you want a gaming machine that will last for years without becoming obsolete, but it’s also a great choice if you’re looking for a regular work machine with plenty of power.

Discounts on PC accessories

The need for great deals doesn’t go away once a computer hits your desk. Peripherals, storage, and other accessories can be expensive, but here are a few other things you can save on.

For all your peripheral needs: Anker 7-in-1 USB-C adapter

I’ve had this particular Anker adapter in my laptop bag for years. It’s dirt cheap — it’s now selling for $28, down from $36 — and it turns a single USB-C port on your computer into an arsenal. It can handle SD and microSD cards, an HDMI cable, two USB 3.0 devices, and even an Ethernet port. It’s no substitute for a full-fledged docking station, but for connecting all your devices on the go, it’s my go-to.

What do you think at the moment?

For Ultra-Fast Storage: Samsung T7 External Solid State Drive

This is by far my favorite external drive. The Samsung T7 External SSD has an aluminum unibody enclosure that’s incredibly durable and delivers blazingly fast transfer speeds of up to 1,050 MB/s. I’ve used it to record and transfer uncompressed 6K video, which can be hundreds of gigabytes in size. If it’s fast enough for my most unusual video recordings, it’s likely fast enough for just about anything you can throw at it. The 2TB model is currently on sale for $130 (or with a $20 discount).

For Ultra-Fast Home Wi-Fi Coverage: TP-Link Deco Mesh Wifi

Mesh systems are a huge advantage for Wi-Fi coverage in large (or even medium) homes. This TP-Link mesh router kit provides Wi-Fi 7 coverage with two access points, which can be expanded by adding more points if more coverage is needed. It supports speeds up to 5,188 Mbps on 6 GHz channels, as well as 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz networks for older home devices that don’t yet support Wi-Fi 7.

For general-purpose typing: Logitech MX Keys Mini

The Logitech MX Keys Mini is a smaller version of my everyday driver’s keyboard. The Logitech MX Keys line is durable, comfortable, low-profile, with long battery life and powerful customization software. The Logi Options+ app lets you create your own macros, customize the functions of different keys, and tailor the device to your specific needs. Personally, I prefer the number pad, but if you can live without it, this model is only $90.

For clear video calls: Logitech C920x webcam

Most technology becomes obsolete within a year or two, but the Logitech C920x webcam is one of those rare gadgets that has somehow managed to remain at the top of its class with minimal updates. I’ve bought several of these over the years, either to replace lost ones or as gifts for friends. It produces excellent 1080p video, attaches easily to almost any monitor or laptop, and has excellent automatic brightness and color correction. It’s already pretty cheap, and now the price has dropped to $60 (down from $70).
