Your Samsung Galaxy Has a Hidden Easy Mode

Our smartphones allow us to stay connected anytime, anywhere, but many of us find modern life too crowded. We look for ways to eliminate distractions and cope with the flood of incoming notifications .
If you have a Samsung Galaxy and want to temporarily or permanently switch to “easy” mode , One UI has a simpler interface option. It’s called “Easy Mode” and has been around for years, although not everyone knows about it.
Besides making the phone easier to use and freeing you from a rather complicated mobile interface, it’s also useful for older people and children who don’t need all the bells and whistles that a Galaxy phone comes with – so maybe it’s something you can set up for other members of your family, too.
How to enable easy mode
You can switch to and from Easy Mode by opening Settings on your Galaxy phone, then tapping Display and selecting Easy Mode . A short explanation of Easy Mode will appear, which you can turn on with the toggle. Once you do, the text on the screen will become bold and larger.
There are two new options: the first is Touch and hold delay , which lets you adjust how long you can continuously touch the screen before it’s recognized as a touch and hold. This is useful for those who can’t always be precise about what’s displayed on the screen.
The second option is the High Contrast Keyboard , a special black and yellow keyboard that replaces the regular keyboard when Easy Mode is enabled. You can change the colors of this keyboard or turn it off if you want. The text on the keyboard will still be larger and bolder, but the colors will remain the same.
How Easy Mode Changes Your Phone
In Easy mode, everything is bigger and, importantly, simpler. From entering a PIN on the lock screen to browsing the web and scrolling through settings and menus, everything on the screen is more visible and easier to tap. In addition to the larger elements, there are changes to the home screens, including disabling Edge panels (if they were enabled).
Swipe left on the Home screen to find quick access to the Magnifier tool. This opens a simplified camera interface where you can use the zoom slider to get a closer look at a real-world object (like small text in a document). (The same tool is always available (in Easy Mode or not) under Accessibility > Vision Enhancements .)
Swipe right on the home screen to open a special “speed dial” page created by Easy Mode (which replaced Google Discover). At first, it’s just a grid of numbers waiting to be assigned, but you can tap on any of them to add a contact. This gives you quick and easy access to your favorite contacts for calling and messaging.
Other changes you can make
Easy mode is a quick way to make everything on your phone clearer and more accessible, but you can change the text size of One UI at any time, with or without Easy mode. To make changes, go to Settings and select Display > Font size and style . The changes will take effect immediately.
To change the size of items on the screen, including app icons and menus, go to Display > Screen zoom in Settings: Use the slider at the bottom of the screen to make items larger or smaller. Unlike font size and style settings, screen zoom isn’t available in Easy mode.
Additional options are available under Accessibility > Vision enhancements in Settings. Here you can apply a high-contrast effect to fonts, keyboards, buttons, and other elements, as well as reduce the number of animations, transparency, and blur effects in the interface.
