Spotify’s New Feature Lets You Mix Your Playlists Like a DJ

Spotify’s latest feature is aimed at budding DJs: you can now add and customize transitions between tracks in your playlists. The Mix feature, currently in beta, allows users to mix up songs in their own playlists to minimize awkward pauses or just get creative with how they transition from one song to the next.

Audio mixing is Spotify’s latest update, designed to give users the ability to personalize their listening experience. Other recently added features include the ability to choose the genre of the weekly releases, postpone tracks, and chat with an AI DJ. (Apple Music has a similar AI DJ feature called AutoMix, which arrived in iOS 26.)

Mix is already available to Premium subscribers, so the feature may not appear right away. Make sure your Spotify app is updated.

How to Use Spotify’s New Mix Feature

To add your own transitions, open a playlist (or create a new one) and click the Mix button in the top toolbar. Choose Auto to have Spotify mix the tracks automatically, or click the button to adjust the volume, EQ, and effects. You can also use waveform and rhythm data to optimize the exact location in each track to add transitions. Preset styles include Fade In and Fade Out . Once you’ve made your selections, click Save .

What do you think at the moment?

You can then toggle the mixed version of the playlist on and off by tapping the Mix button. Mixed playlists can be shared or shared with other subscribers. Spotify also lets you create covers with stickers and labels that are only available for mixed playlists.

Spotify notes that mixing works best with genres of music that are built for smooth transitions, like house and techno. When using Mix, Spotify automatically displays the key and beats per minute (BPM) of each track, so you can find songs with a similar tempo and key to Camelot and quickly rearrange them for the most natural sound.
