How to Store a Merach Stepper in an Apartment

If I’ve learned anything from researching trendy home exercise machines , it’s that living in a small apartment doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your fitness goals. The Merach stepper offers a light cardio workout in a compact package, but even the most compact machines can be difficult to store in a small space. And if you’re disassembling the machine and putting it away after each workout, it’ll be that much harder to stick to your new habit . The time and effort required to assemble the machine can quickly become an excuse to skip a workout.

The Merach Stepper measures 83.9 inches long, 22.1 inches wide, and 52.4 inches tall when assembled—about the size of a small dining room chair, but much taller. The best part is that it folds vertically, making it much easier to use. To cut down on assembly time between workouts, simply unscrew the top two screws and fold the stepper vertically. You can go from storage to workout mode in under a minute, making it easy to get your workout done.

I would also like to point out that at 12.5 kg it is certainly portable, although not very convenient for carrying around the apartment. Wherever you decide to store the stepper, I would advise choosing a place as close as possible to the place of training.

Wardrobe in the bedroom

Since most people will probably use this idea, I’m happy to report that the Merach stepper will fit in most apartment closets. My closet is the smallest, and here’s what it looks like in it.

When folded, the narrow profile makes it easy to tuck behind a clothes hanger or into a corner, preferably without disturbing your entire wardrobe.

Under the bed

Since my bed lifts up for storage, this isn’t ideal for me. However, if you can slide the stepper in and out from under the bed, it’s a good option. Depending on the size of your bed, you may need to remove the handles to make more space. Here’s my stepper next to my double bed for reference.

The main advantage of this arrangement is that your washing machine will be completely hidden from view, but still easily accessible. First, measure the space under your bed to make sure it fits, and consider using furniture slides to make it easier to pull out.

Kitchen corner

Your stepper can fit into one of those pesky gaps between appliances and the walls of your apartment. For me, this is a great option: 1) I use a space where few things fit, and 2) it’s always on hand for short workouts.

Apart from stuffing a broom in there, this is the first time I’ve managed to store anything in that crevice.

This awkward angle

Every home has awkward corners where odds and ends accumulate. Instead of turning these spaces into cluttered closets, dedicate one of them to a place to store fitness gear. A folded stepper will blend in harmoniously with the overall picture, while remaining organized and accessible.

Bottom line

To make the most of your storage strategy, develop a clear routine for assembling and disassembling your items. Consider combining the act of folding with other daily activities, such as cleaning up after dinner or preparing for the next day.

Another important consideration when choosing a storage location is the amount of traffic in your apartment. High-traffic areas may not be conducive to frequent equipment movement, while secluded areas may make you forget about your workouts entirely. Try to find a balance.
