My Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: Samsung Galaxy Watch 8

Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 8 lineup launched this month, with the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic coming in two different designs. Surprisingly, Amazon is already offering discounts on both models.

The Galaxy Watch 8 costs $299.99 (originally $349.99) for the Bluetooth version and $349.99 (originally $399.99) for the LTE version . Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic costs $499.99 for the Bluetooth version and $549.99 for the LTE version . What’s more, with the purchase of either watch, you’ll get a $100 Amazon gift card — a pretty sweet deal for a smartwatch that just came out this month.

If you’re upgrading from the Galaxy Watch 7, there are a few improvements that justify the $50 price increase over the base model . You get a brighter display, a longer battery life, a thinner design, an updated case, new health sensors, an AI-powered running coach, more sleep information, dual-band GPS, one-handed gesture control, and Google’s Gemini voice assistant right on the watch. Not bad, but if that doesn’t excite you, the Galaxy Watch 7 now starts at $199.99 (originally $249.99), and it, too, gets the Gemini and sleep updates.

If you’re unsure whether to get the regular Galaxy 8 or the Classic, the main difference with the Classic is the rotating bezel, which makes it easier to navigate menus. ( Read Lifehacker’s senior health editor Beth Skuerecki’s first impressions here .) It’s also worth noting that the Classic is only available with a larger 46mm screen, while the regular Galaxy 8 is available in 40mm and 44mm screens. Either way, you’ll get about 30 hours of battery life on a single charge.

What do you think at the moment?

If you plan to carry your phone with you while using the watch, get the Bluetooth version. But if you want to run without taking your phone off while still listening to music or taking calls, it’s worth the extra $50 for LTE. (Read more about the Galaxy 8 Watch in CNET’s review .)
