The Best (and Easiest) Way to Clean Your Vitamix Explorian E310

When you spend a lot of money on a quality blender, it’s important that it lasts a long time. This includes following the rules while blending (don’t overheat the motor, don’t throw rocks at it, etc.), but it’s equally important to properly care for the device after blending.
The Vitamix Explorian E310 is the cheapest of the Vitamix blenders, but it’s not cheap in either price or quality. While it doesn’t have the same fancy settings as the Vitamix Ascent , it does have nearly the same blending power, which is why the Explorian is arguably the best value in the series in my opinion.
Here’s how I keep my Vitamix Explorian clean so it can make my favorite chia pudding forever.
How to Clean Vitamix Explorian E310
Don’t be too hard on yourself when cleaning your Vitamix Explorian (or any other Vitamix blender). It’s easy. Just keep going.
1. Add soap and fill halfway with warm water.
Once blending is complete, remove the bowl from the motor and rinse it. I like to remove any food residue from the lid and sides of the bowl first. Add a drop or two of dish soap to the bowl and fill the bowl about halfway with warm water. Close the lid.
2. Increase your speed
The Explorian E310 doesn’t have any preset cleaning modes, but that’s not a problem: you can start the cleaning cycle manually. First, turn the speed control all the way to the left, to 1. Turn on the blender and, while it’s running, use the control to increase the speed to 10. Let it run at this speed for about 30 seconds. Return the control to 1, or simply turn off the blender.
3. Spot clean the most difficult to reach areas.
This is usually all you need to clean the container and blades. If the soapy water doesn’t get on the lid (which is often the case), just take a soapy sponge and wipe it off. If you’ve done something oily, it may leave a couple of stubborn stains. I wipe them off with a soapy sponge and rinse. I’ve never seen anything get stuck under or around the blades after one cleaning. However, if you have this problem, just gently wipe around the blades with a sponge or bottle brush. Let the container and lid air dry upside down.
Try soaking in vinegar.
If you notice a cloudy film forming on the surface of the container, or if you’ve made a large batch of aioli and it still smells of garlic after a regular cleaning, add a cup of white vinegar to the container and fill it halfway with warm water. Run the machine as before and leave it for a few hours or overnight. Gently scrub the sides with an abrasive sponge. Rinse off the solution and you’ll be good to go.
What to Avoid When Cleaning Vitamix Explorian E310
Do not put parts in the dishwasher. The manufacturer does not recommend putting the container or lid in the dishwasher. (Unless it is obvious, do not put the motor in the dishwasher either.)
Don’t try to remove the blades. The blade at the bottom of the container is not designed to be removed. It is securely and permanently attached. And given how fast this blender works, I wouldn’t trust myself to attach it properly anyway.
