Peloton Makes Preparing for a Hyrox Race Easier

I make time to work out every day, usually using a Peloton Bike and the Peloton app , but I’m not sure I’d consider myself an elite athlete . As much as I try to get into, say, running , there are some things I just don’t feel like doing. I don’t want to run a marathon or, God forbid, even learn what goes into an Iron Man event, so I’m generally out of touch with what the wider “fitness community” is doing while I’m doing my thing on a stationary bike.
Hyrox is not true. Even I ’ve heard of Hyrox , an indoor fitness challenge that combines eight runs with eight functional fitness stations. Can I ever see myself going down that path? Not really, but I have the utmost respect for anyone who wants to, and if you’re one of them, I have good news: Peloton and Hyrox have teamed up so you can train for a Hyrox race using the home fitness giant’s offerings.
You don’t even have to train for an actual Hyrox race to benefit from it. You can use Peloton’s Hyrox content to add variety to your workouts. Who knows, you might even want to try a race.
Peloton Hyrox Offers
According to Peloton , Collaborative Training is a “specialized group of classes designed to help you conquer your next (or first!) Hyrox race.” For now, that means Peloton has spent time bundling existing on-demand classes that fit specific elements of race preparation.
A traditional Hyrox race includes the eight functional stations I mentioned:
-
1000m SkiErg
-
50 meter sled push
-
50 meter sled pull
-
80m long jump burpee routine
-
rowing 1000 meters
-
farmer’s carry 200 meters
-
100m sandbag lunge series
-
100 throws of the ball against the wall
So Peloton’s program is designed to prepare you for all of this. Classes are divided into categories that focus on the following goals:
-
Endurance: This section includes interval runs, endurance runs, and longer bike workouts to gradually build endurance. The workouts are best done on the Peloton Tread or Bike , but can be done without one.
-
Strength Training: This section features interval and HIIT rowing workouts, ideally done on the Peloton Row machine .
-
Manual Sled Push: This section involves moving the treadmill manually, without the use of a motor, and is designed to prepare you for pushing and pulling the sled.
-
Core Strength: This section includes full body and lower body strength training, as well as cycling, running and rowing boot camps to build your strength.
-
Recovery and Mental Stamina: This section includes meditation and yoga sessions to help you develop mental stamina and focus, which is essential for a race of the size and demands of Hyrox.
-
Adaptive Athletes: This section includes adaptive training sessions in seated and standing formats to meet the needs of different types of athletes.
Search Peloton Hyrox workouts
The easiest way to find Peloton’s Hyrox workout collections is to search for Hyrox in the Peloton app. At the top of the screen, you’ll see sections called Classes , Collections , Programs , and Musicians . Tap Collections , and you’ll see a banner with the Peloton x Hyrox collaboration. Tap it, and you’ll be taken to a landing page with classes from the sections described above.
You can also select specific instructors if you have favorite instructors whose classes are featured in the collection.
Each section briefly explains why you should use the activities it contains to prepare for a Hyrox race. For example, the Endurance section says: “8K Race Preparation and General Endurance Hyrox.”
Sure, you can add these classes to your Stack (Peloton’s version of a playlist you create when you want to do multiple workouts in a row without taking a break). Here’s what I recommend: Identify the classes you want in the mobile app, then add them to your Stack so you can easily access them from your bike, treadmill, rower, or app.
