Poshmark and Klarna’s New Partnership Should Make It Easier to Resell Your Items

There are a few reasons why I like using resale apps , but the main one is that I’m not a very responsible person, and these platforms, especially my favorite Poshmark , allow me to sell old stuff and then use the money to buy cheaper versions of what I would have bought new. When I have to buy new stuff (and I unfortunately use the word “have to” loosely, because for some reason I always have to), I’m no stranger to a buy now, pay later plan that lets me make purchases without leaving a big hole in my checking account. So you can imagine how excited I was to see a press release in my inbox this morning announcing that Poshmark and Klarna, a popular BNPL facilitator, were joining forces. It turns out that the partnership is not what you might think. It’s not that Poshmark lets you buy now and pay later, it’s that you can quickly resell what you bought then and pay later.

Poshmark-Klarna Partnership Details

The new partnership, billed as a “strategic partnership designed to simplify resale and enable consumers to make money from their wardrobes,” allows users to find their past purchases in the Klarna app and then quickly and easily list them on Poshmark when they’re ready to sell something new.

I tested it myself, and it worked perfectly. I opened the Payments tab in the Klarna app, then opened one of the payments for a recent purchase. All the items I’d bought in that order were displayed along with two buttons: Buy Again and Resell . The Resell section lets you choose between eBay or Poshmark. I chose Poshmark, and the app opened a new listing that imported a stock photo of the jumpsuit I’d chosen, a title taken from the retail listing, and even a selected category (women > pants & jumpsuits > jumpsuits & rompers). The description, size, brand, and color were all blank, as was the section where I could enter the price I’d like to sell for, but it was all easy to fill out.

And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention this highlight of the release: Right now, those who sign up for Klarna for the first time and use its feature will receive $10 in Posh Credit for in-app purchases.

What do you think at the moment?

Why I like this feature

First of all, I think it’s great that Poshmark is constantly innovating. There’s always some new feature (like Smart Sell or Promoted Closet ) or partnership ( like automatically getting your listings in front of Facebook Marketplace buyers ) that can help you make money.

But this isn’t news either. Some retailers, like Everlane, Reformation, Lulus, For Love & Lemons, Hill House Home, Farm Rio, and Sézane, also allow you to list products directly on the checkout page of their websites. I wouldn’t call myself a sustainability advocate, but I love it when brands in general strive to be better, and this initiative to support circular fashion makes me happy.
