Google Nest Doorbell Now $60 Off

You don’t have to be a smart-home expert to set up the Google Nest Doorbell (with battery) . That’s part of its appeal: It’s wireless, easy to install, and does most of the legwork for you. For $119.99 (previously $179.99), you get a doorbell that can detect people, packages, pets, and cars passing by, so your phone won’t vibrate every time the wind blows through the trees.
What makes the Nest Doorbell stand out is its clear vertical field of view. It records in 960p with a 3:4 aspect ratio, giving you a clear head-to-toe view of anyone at your door — useful for spotting a package being delivered or just checking in on them. Night vision is also reliable at about 10 feet, notes this PCMag review . It connects over both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, and while it doesn’t support Alexa or Apple HomeKit, it integrates well with Google Assistant and the Google Home app. A quick disclaimer: You’ll need the Google Home app and a Google account to get started. This model doesn’t work with the Nest Hub.
There are some tradeoffs to consider. Free cloud storage only lets you view the last three hours of video, so if you want a longer video history, you’ll have to pay. Nest Aware plans start at $8 per month and go up to $15 per month if you want 60 days of history. On the plus side, features like people, pets, vehicles, and package detection are available without a plan. And because the camera runs on battery power, it keeps recording even if the Wi-Fi or power goes out. It’s not the most feature-rich model on the market, and its capabilities are limited if you’re not already a Google ecosystem user. But for those who want a smarter front door without the hassle of wires, this is a compelling proposition.
