The MacBook Air has always been a great choice for a computer that “just works,” especially now that Apple is using its own chips and has bumped the base RAM to 16GB. Not everyone needs all the power of a MacBook Pro, and these computers are a solid way to get Apple’s easy-to-use operating system without spending a ton of money… or, if the name doesn’t make sense, without spending your savings.
You can get Apple’s newest MacBook Airs at a pretty big discount during Prime Day: At the time of writing, prices start at $849, or $150 off. The deal gets you the 13-inch model with the new M4 chip, 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and four color options. For $1,049, also $150 off, you can upgrade to a 15-inch model with the same RAM and storage. On the plus side, though, there are still four color options to choose from — a rare selection you’ll find at sales like this.
For those looking for a more powerful model, there are discounts on both sizes with 512GB of storage and 16GB or 24GB of RAM. The most powerful 13-inch MacBook Air is now $1,249 (a $150 discount), while the similarly powerful 15-inch MacBook Air is $1,434.64, a bit more than the $164.36 discount on the other options.
Some older models, like the 2024 MacBook Air with the M3 chip, can now be found for slightly less in updated form , though you’ll be sacrificing half the storage by buying an older unit. While the M2 and M3 MacBook Airs have been even more attractive than their newer counterparts in past sales, Apple’s upgrades this year make buying a new computer a better choice for long-term use on Prime Day.
Looking for something different? Retailers like Walmart, Best Buy, and Home Depot are running Prime Day sales that are especially helpful if you don’t have an Amazon Prime subscription.
