I am a gardener, and I have a lot of garden inventory, but even the Black Sea with my own area has hoses. And these hoses are a real headache. They snake on the ground, demanding that they are again wound on cheap plastic coils or carefully folded. If they are not removed regularly, they burn out in the sun, as well as the people who walk along them, drive them or stumble about them. My biggest problem was that I had to change these hoses every year, and I often pulled the plants and trellises, trying to reach something hose. They are heavy and uncomfortable.
Giraffe Tools introduced retractable wall-mounted hose reels a few years ago, and I now have three of them. They install in minutes with just a few screws, and the reel itself can be installed by one person in a jiffy. The sale lasts a few more hours until Prime Day ends.
Once the reel is in place, it can be easily pulled around the garden at any height. I have it at hip height, but I may go higher in the future. The upside is that I no longer have to drag the hose around raised beds and most trellises, as the hose is above them. The reel is surprisingly light and easy to pull out. To rewind the hose, you just give it a gentle tug and step back, as it pulls itself out. In my experience, it rarely gets caught on anything, and when it does, I can pull it out a few feet and it will get stuck on its own.
The mount and outer housing are sturdy and stylish, with a grey finish that will never get dirty. A replacement spray nozzle is included, but any standard one will do. You can purchase a hose of different lengths and thicknesses.
I don’t need a powerful sprayer, I just use the jet setting on the hose and it washes away all the debris from the surface of my patio. I like that the hose can reach even the farthest corners of the yard and none of my plants are at risk.
Lastly, Giraffe has a fantastic warranty. They will replace the hose for two years if there are any leaks or problems. One of my three hoses broke (my fault, I ran over a steel wheelbarrow) and, no questions asked, a brand new one was delivered to me within a week.
